 the dial signed Jean Baptiste Baillon,
the movement signed J B Baillon à Paris N° 1473 – circa 1740-1744

The gallery’s archives record Baillon’s earliest numbered elephant clock movement as N° 1119 and the latest as N° 3666. Bearing N° 1473, this is an early example, pre-dating those marked with the crowned ‘C’ poinçon from 1745-1749.
