A Louis XVI small lyre-shaped mantel clock

A Louis XVI gilt bronze and white marble small lyre clock,
 the dial signed Hartingue a Paris, the enamel signed Coteau –  circa 1780-1785

Height: 34.5 cm. (13 ½ in.)    Width: 18.5 cm. (7 ¼ in.)   Depth: 11 cm. (4 ½ in.)

 

The circular enamel dial indicates the Roman numeral hours and Arabic numeral minutes with pierced and engraved gilt brass hands. The circular movement has an anchor escapement and silk thread suspension and strikes the hours and half hours by means of a count-wheel on the back-plate.
